WHITEFISH BAY LITTLE LEAGUE INTERMEDIATE DIVISION FOR THE 2016 SEASON

Little League International has created a new Division – Intermediate, which uses a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths, and allows lead-offs and stealing   Our current Majors program is 46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths and does not allow lead-offs.

Whitefish Bay Little League wants to provide as much opportunity as possible for our kids to enjoy baseball at Craig Counsell Park for as long as is possible.  This new division accomplishes this goal and provides an opportunity for players to transition incrementally from a 46/60 field to a full size 60/90 baseball field and provides an opportunity to offer a more competitive level of baseball during the regular season for advanced players.

The league is open to players currently in 7th grade who are 12 or 13 (as of April 30, 2015).  There will be between 2 and 4 teams.  The season will run from the end of April until around June 30th. There will be 12 games, and no playoffs.  Games will be played at Craig Counsell Park (on the modified Admiral’s Field)  on Sunday nights over 9 weeks and 3 additional weekday games.  The teams will play other WFB teams and potentially some games against West Bend and Cedarburg.  There will NOT be player evaluations.  Coaches will draft players and notify players what team they are on around the middle of March.

Players may register for Juniors and Intermediate, but cannot register for both Majors and Intermediate.  However, there will be call-ups from the Majors division during the season to give 5th and 6th graders great exposure to this type of baseball.

Registration for the 2015 Whitefish Bay Little League Intermediate division is open via the league’s website, www.wfbll.com.  There is a brief form to fill out and a fully secure credit card payment process (Visa and Master Card accepted).  Registration runs through Januray 15, 2015.  After that date a late fee is imposed.  The fee for Intermediate is $140 and includes a jersey, hat and socks.   Professional umpires will also be used for these games.  If you are interested in coaching, please indicate this during the registration process.

There will be an informational meeting December 9th at the Whitefish Bay Library (2nd floor) from 6:30 – 8 pm to answer any questions.  It will be the only night for in-person registration.
